Eagle Drilling is excited to announce our upcoming Eagle Drilling Academy taking place August 7th, 2025.
This complimentary event is designed to highlight the most common forms of drilling in the region, as well as provide insight to the drilling process from planning to implementation, to site restoration. In addition to instruction from the experts at Eagle Drilling Services, Aurelio “Manny” Fernandez from the Nevada Division of Water Resources will discuss the forms and approval process for his agency.
Five Professional Development Hours or Continuing Education Credits will be provided provided for all in attendance.
It all happens at 45 PPF Way, Mound House, NV
Drilling Academy Agenda
12:30pm – 1:00pm Before You Drill
There is more to drilling than making a hole. This includes researching potential underground utilities, equipment calibration, preparing for patching/backfilling, and of course, safety.
About the speaker: Hayden Cook, Equipment and Logistics Specialist, Eagle Drilling Services
Mr. Cook has more than six years of drilling experience including geotechnical, environmental and mining projects.
1:00pm – 1:45pm Hollow Stem Auger
The Hollow Stem Auger drilling system has both geotechnical and environmental applications with internal flights or blades to remove soil from the hole. Learn this drilling technique and how it may apply to both geotechnical and environmental applications.
About the Speakers:
Eduardo Luis-Sanchez, Drilling Supervisor, Eagle Drilling Services
Mr. Luis-Sanchez brings over 16 years of experience in geotechnical and environmental drilling, in addition to well abandonment. He is responsible for ensuring that the work meets Eagle’s quality standards, client expectations are consistently exceeded, and project schedules and deadlines are maintained. He also assists in tracking drilling equipment and materials to prevent delays and ensure continuous progress on all projects.

1:45pm – 2:30pm Geothermal Heating and Cooling
With water being an increasingly valuable resource, architects, developers, and building owners are considering geothermal alternatives to traditional evaporative heating and cooling systems. What are the benefits of a ground source heat exchange (GSHE) system, and what buildings will see the most from those benefits?
About the Speaker: Ty Miller, PE, GSHE Lead, Geotechnical & Environmental Services.
Mr. Miller is a GSHE subject matter expert in Nevada. In this position he discusses the benefits of geothermal heating and cooling and performs geothermal investigations.
2:30pm – 3:15pm Sampling with Mud Rotary
Developed in the late 1800s, mud rotary drilling pumps fluid through a hollow drill pipe. What are the requirements of this drilling method and when is it best used?
